I do have a few people who take laptops out of the building, and currently it was kind of weird because we don't use VPN as its only a couple people and they don't need to work on actual in house stuff. So basically I would never hear back from those pcs once they got their initial safeguard policy from the server.

Take the free upgrades to windows 10 and do bitlocker. Symantec Disk Encryption is a cluster fuck. Free upgrades are only to Win10 Home, which does not have OS drive encryption in it.

Need to purchase Win10 Pro or Enterprise unfortunately. Sorry, my mistake. Thought you only ended up with Win 10 Home, regardless of what you upgrade from. That's not the case. I'm in the same position and from my research, everything is either shitty Kaspersky , expensive Sophos or shitty and expensive Symantec. VeraCrypt seems to be the most ideal solution as its closest to TrueCrypt and its free but in the corporate world, its a tough sell.

Whatever you do, stay away from McAfee. I've lost track of how many hard drives it's trashed. Just started using Sophos Enterprise. Works pretty well. Adds the ability to seamlessly encrypt file shares too which is pretty sweet for protecting HR data without them having to remember anything.
